during critique Linda set in motion a suggestion that we rework each others images – a scary concept = more on that in a minute. In the studio we also had to continue to develop our first concept taking a detail and working on that. We also watched a couple of videos of artists who worked in multiples to create abstract patterns – hmmmm interesting.

I liked the multiple vases and decided that was the design to develop further using a stencil. In the meantime we were allocated other drawings at random. There were 8 of us to randomly share and of all the images i didn’t want to work on, Louisa’s I felt was too far developed for me to take any further. Of course that was the image that I drew – challenge on.

Busy time this week working on two major projects plus supposedly completing our sketch book and also working on our mid term drawing – i feel that goes quite a bit beyond the anticipated workload. Not quite so bad for me as I only have two classes but my fellow students chatting in the hallway who have up to 5 classes are really feeling pressure as well

When shading in between the vase shapes with charcoal the next lesson was that if you are not super-systematic the charcoal smudges all over the places you don’t want it. It was a major undertaking trying to remove the smudges. The brief required black and white only – but having expended so much energy i felt that i had to add a color element. Then on to Louisa’s drawing.
