in this hectic end to this semester in addition to the monster project we will also be doing a casting assignment relating to holding hands. i have reviewed the videos and frankly they did not hold too many surprises in that holding hands intuitively to me is likely to be calming. right back from being a child holding hands with your mum or dad. i pick up my six year old grandson from school every Thursday and we hold hands on our way to my truck – I wonder how long it will before he no longer wants to hold hands with his old grand dad??
I didn’t have a clear idea of where I wanted to go with this and because we were also to engage with a partner i delayed trying to plan until we could work collaboratively. Carys was in the same position I was so we decided to team up and figure out a gesture. We explored a couple of ideas and landed on interlocked hands – a very strong gesture symbolizing solidarity. Here we are rehearsing our gesture.

Once you have a gesture you immerse your hands in a bucket of goop and hold still for 10 minutes. Its quite a weird sensation feeling the goop harden around your hands. After 10 minutes the goop has set sufficiently to pour plaster in. This is what the mould looks like

And here is that mould with plaster, and after the mould is broken open how the cast came out
