FIN 130 Unit 3

Well this is the final part of assignment 3. 5 sheets of cardboard arrived from the laser cutter and the next task was to assemble them. There is an assembly sequence in the software but pretty quickly I realized that the sequence would not work.

My pattern is very complex in the horizontal plane which meant that the cardboard is very flimsy. The recommended sequence was to put the last 3 verticals at the end which would have been impossible as the thin strips of cardboard would bend. I had to improvise and used a combination of horizontal and vertical sequences.

even with only 9 horizontal slices to bind together I had to modify one of the verticals as it just would not slide into place, but with a bit of juggling and a lot of patience I managed to complete the head so here is the finished article.

and here is the group all together, horizontal, vertical and interlocked.

I like the way the cardboard head has a resemblance to the one of the Angel of the North, an amazing statue in the North of England

And of course the ultimate in laser cut plywood
